Maybe you have passed by Lake Woodlands and wondered just who are those people in boats and what are they doing? It's very likely that you've seen our junior crew, a program of Rowing Club of the Woodlands. Open to high school students from The Woodlands High School, College Park High School, Oak Ridge High School, John Cooper School, Woodlands Preparatory Academy as well as to homeschoolers we provide training in the sport of rowing and compete in both head races as well as regattas. Offered as a co-ed sport, eligible for private PE credit in CISD, rowing provides a low impact, total body workout which involves both strength and cardiovascular fitness.
Learn to Row classes are offered through the Rowing Club of the Woodlands monthly beginning late spring and running into September each year. These classes provide a basic introduction to sculling and are the first step to joining the juniors program. We also participate in National Learn to Row Day in June when the general public is welcome to participate with us hands on as we provide on the water sculling demos as well as erging demos on the rowing machines on land. If you would like to learn more, just contact us and we'll be happy to forward information to you.
